Euthanasia – makes death simpler

I am not here to debate as whether we shall practice euthanasia or not. I just wanted to express my views on it.

Everyone has to go through the God made life cycle in which the last stage, which is death, can come to you suddenly or in a prolonged manner in which you die every day for days, months or even years. Some people in their 80’s or so, unfortunately, get the latter one; my grandfather was one of them.

I still remember that he was the one who used to teach me, play with me, and give me gyan (knowledge) about the way life should be lived. He never would have done anything bad, or for that matter thought anything bad, for anyone. He was a person full of determination, passion and positivity. In his last days, he was as quite as a lake, waiting for his demise.

He was going through pain for last one year, he was bedridden and you cannot be sure at any point in time on seeing him that whether he is sleeping or awake. Finally, the day comes for which he was waiting, and he quietly falls into the hands of god. As soon as I heard the news, for once I was happier for him than sad. I would have liked this day to arrive months earlier, which would have been possible only by practicing euthanasia. If my person was in a coma, I would let him be kept alive, but if in a lot of pain I would want what is best for him.

After a long happy and fulfilling life, he will rest within the womb of the Goddess, either to reincarnate or to remain in perfect peace. May the Goddess and the God always protect him.

  1. I wander thinking about meaning of life and the reasons of our existence, but i believe that the truth is that we all have been given a fixed ration of time to spend, and the only good way to spend is by making it unforgettable for those whose lives we touch.

    May he rest in peace!

  2. well ankit i belive that one should never defy “nature”.life and death are the creations of nature and one should let natue take its course. Moreover i can’t even imagine asking my doctor to “kill” my parents, the parents who brought my existence in this world.

  4. We cannot stop nature to take its toll on anybody, but if I see a person in agony which cannot be suppressed by any means, I will choice what is best for him/her.

I know parents have brought us into existence which is why I want them to live a happy and a prosperous life till the time nature takes it toll.

  5. dude
may your grand fathers soul rest in peace

and now comin to the topic i guess as much as every1 wants to live his or her life by choice so why cant a person have a choice of death and ending ones life.
i for once would like the pain and misery to end sooner rather than later.as far as i think people who love you the most can only remain happy as long as they see you leading a normal life..

  6. Spot on boss… I will make sure that I will live till the time I dont’ become pain for others. Also, I am totally in fair of leaving the decision to the person itself but then the starting point will be to make Euthanasia possible in india.

  7. Varun ur thoughts sound bit suicidal

  8. @samarth: rofl …hahahahahah

nd now tell me about the case where a man comes out of comma after more than a decade…maybe this is a one in a zillion case …but for this one in a zillion case which can bring life back , i cannot support euthanasia..

and ankit dear ones never become pain..they have taken all the pain to make you what you are ..don’t tell me you cannot take a pain which allows dear ones to live for that last breadth..we just cannot snatch life from them using some ugly man-made poison… :)

  9. We all are looking at it from the third eye, lets look at it from the eye of the person who is actually in pain, lets forget about the emotions attached with that person. As said earlier, I agree with Varun that it is up to him to decide whether he needs to live a painful life or die.

Here I am talking about a state of excruciation and not a pain which happens if we are physically hurt by an accident.

Also, there are cases, like the one pointed out by Mayur, where Euthanasia should not be supported. But there will surely be some where you might want to take ugly man-made poison.
